Artist in Residency Details
Aims
The aims of the residency are to:
- Encourage and provide a professional development opportunity and experience both for SQ and the artist.
- Foster connectivity to the real world of sculptors and contemporary art.
- Broaden the experiences of SQ members and the resident artists.
- Provide interaction of members with working artists through observation, discussion and mentoring.
- Develop an ongoing relationship between SQ and the hosted artists.
- Develop closer ties between the community and SQ through educational talks, workshops and exhibitions emanating from the presence of the resident artists.

Focus
- Two artists would usually be resident at the same time provided their presence is complimentary, symbiotic or non-conflicting.
- Artists may be drawn from Australia and overseas. However they may be drawn from promising student levels to acclaimed artists.
- They may be of any age and nationality.
- All resident artists must be prepared to provide a mentoring role. This would be by appointment so that the creative process of the artist is not diffused.
- Generally the resident should speak sufficient English, contribute to the life of the society and for mentoring. However this may be waived where the artist’s presence is deemed to be of considerable benefit to the Society and the artist is considered capable of communicating by demonstration, visual presentation and drawing.
- Residency will be for 2-3 months, dependent on the proposal.
