How To Create & Maintain Your Own Photo Gallery

- Create your own Photo gallery
- Upload or delete your photos
- Add your descriptions
- Receive Comments from registered viewers
To create a Gallery and upload photos please:
- First log in to the SQ website (you will need to be a member of SQ).
- click on menu option CREATE YOUR OWN GALLERY.
Photo Format:
- "JPG" preferably optimized for the WEB.
Photo Dimensions:
- Maximum Width.........500 pixels
- maximum Height......500 pixels
Photo File Size:
- Photo File Size should be no larger than 70Kb. This may require a "JPG" file to be compressed.
- The easiest way to achieve a suitably small file is to "optimize it for the WEB" (see instructions below).
Program to Resize and Compress Photos
If you do not already have a program to size and compress images there is a free program called IrfanView
Go to......... www.irfanview.com to download and install a free copy of IrfanView
Using IrfanView
Open image- Now explore and try the many IrfanView "Image" options such as:
- Rotate
- Colour correction
- Sharpen
Now Crop the image if needed:
- Place the cursor at the top left-hand corner of the area of the image to be kept.
- At this location press and hold the left mouse key
- With the mouse key still pressed, move the cursor to the bottom right corner of the area to be kept.
- Release the mouse key. A rectangle will then define the area to be kept.
- If it is wrong, simply repeat the process.
- To crop to this rectangle select "Edit" then "Crop selection"....done.
- Select "Image", then "Resize/Resample"
- The following screen will then appear:

- Use the parameters shown. above, except for height and width.
- For Height/ Width set the largest dimension to 500 pixels. The other dimension will auto-scale.
- Then click 'OK". The image is now reized.
- Select "File" then "Save for Web".
- A box will then open showing two images. The left is the original image. The right is the compressed image.
- Save the new image giving it a new name (so it does not overwrite your original)
The image is now ready to be added to your gallery.
